He was a visiting faculty member at the Department of Mathematics Didactics at Universidad de Granada in 2009. Visiting researcher at IME USP in 2010 and foreign visiting faculty member in 2012 at IMECC of Universidade Estadual de Campinas. From March 2018 to June 2019, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Connecticut in the United States. His teaching visits include Chile, Colombia and the College of Education at the University of Florida. He conducts research in statistics and data science, acting on the following topics: Regression models, latent variable models, item response theory models, cognitive diagnostic models, Bayesian inference, categorical data, psychometrics and statistical education.

He is currently Director of the Department of Policies for the Development and Quality Assurance of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education. My research interests focus on higher education systems, research evaluation, science policy, open access, scholarly communication, and open science. I have worked in scholarly communication and open-access publishing initiatives since 2011. My involvement as an ambassador of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) in Latin America has allowed me to collaborate with several universities and government agencies on the adoption of best practices for scholarly publications, and open science policies. I have taught in public and private universities in Mexico. I also have a background in dance, I am currently an amateur tango dancer.

Naveed Kazmi

Dr. Naveed Kazmi has a PhD in education and works as a Senior Lecturer in Education at the London Metropolitan University. He has extensive experience of working at various levels in education in the UK and overseas. He currently teaches on a range of modules on the BA and MA in education alongside supervising PhD students. Teaching research methods on undergraduate and postgraduate education studies degrees is his special interest. His other areas of academic interest include curriculum theory and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Naveed is currently also a school governor. At present, Naveed is leading on a research project at London Metropolitan University investigating the experiences of parents whose children have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and have an Education Heal and Care Plan approved by their respective local authorities in London.
