Dossier: François Truffaut (1932-1984)

Abstract

Before Truffaut, many French film directors began to deploy techniques and narratives that started what later became known worldwide as French New Wave (or Nouvelle Vague). But creature’s real father is François. Perhaps the incendiary article he published in Cahiers du Cinema was the beginning. Or maybe theimpudence with which he faced projects demonstrated that the movie goer who became a film critic turned into filmmaker.
